We think this comb pretty much rocks. Why? Glad you asked.
Material – Cellulose Acetate
Our combs are made of Cellulose Acetate, also known as Zyl, a high performance thermoplastic first prepared in the late 1800's. It has a unique combination of properties that makes it the perfect material for high-end optical frames, combs, and embellishments.
Some properties of Cellulose Acetate:
- Naturally hypoallergenic
- High impact and mechanical strength
- Excellent machinability
- Brilliant color
- Soft to the touch
- A natural derivative of Cotton
- Contains no petrochemicals
- Each sheet is unique
We designed this comb with a man's hand in mind. In fact, we used inspiration from the most custom and intimate tool we knew of – Brass Knuckles – as a beginning for how a tool can feel in the hand. It slides over the knuckles perfectly, feels great to the touch (thanks to the cellulose acetate), and looks pretty great, too.
A lot of fun
We couldn't stop playing with our knuckled comb, spinning it around our fingers. Which gave us an idea...why not put an ultra-thin bearing in a finger hole? One thing led to another, and we ended up with a smaller comb that we have trouble putting down.
